This is a kit for making cold ramen salad, aka Hiyashi Chuuka. Inside the box, you'll find the same delicious ramen noodles made by Umi Organic! This is 8 oz of noodle (enough for 2 servings) plus one pack of Miso Sesame Sauce (made with Jorinji miso!).
Haven't made Hiyashi Chuuka before? It's beyond easy to make! Just tease apart the noodles and boil them for 2 minutes. After you strain them, rinse them with cold water until the noodles are nice and cool. At this point, I usually throw them in the fridge while I chop up the toppings, which are mostly just julienned veggies. I especially love using cucumbers and tomato, but I've been using all the veggies we're getting from our CSA from Stewards Vly Farm. You usually add some sort of protein too, and I often use deli meat slices, julienned, as well as whisked and seasoned egg cooked into a thin sheet and julienned. Usually you arrange the toppings on top of the noodles radially so each topping is in it's own 'pizza slice' segment. Then I pour the dressing over everything (though you can pre-dress the noodles before you add the toppings if you prefer). Lastly, I make a little karashi mustard and put a dollop on the plate. I eat so much Hiyashi Chuuka over the summer that I often prep a bunch of veggies and store them in the fridge so they're all ready to go and it's just the easiest meal to throw together.
