Much like the Divot Bowl, the Divot Cup begs for interaction - you have no choice but to reach for it and cup it in your hands. The clever shape coupled with the glaze, not quite a satin or a matte, makes for an addicting tactile experience. These are approximately 3.5" diameter and 2.75" tall, though there is a little variation in size. They are about 3/16" thick. These are solid cups that are impossible to chip (ok, but don't actually try it!) and are made to withstand industrial dishwashers at restaurants. Each cup is handmade so there are little variations in size, shape, and color. I love the wabi-sabi quality of them, and they're especially adorable when you stack them.
Luscious Porcelain is a local ceramicist who is the darling of the restaurant industry. You may have had the pleasure of using her ceramics at Berlu, Mae, Dame, Langbaan, and several other local restaurants. If you've eaten food off her dishware, you know how special they are. They are very heavyweight but encompass a fragility in their shape. They reflect nature in that they are all almost identical but have slight variations.
Colors (from top to bottom of the stack, left to right)
Flamingo: Bright, unabashed flamingo pink :)
White: with a pool of maroon in the bottom
Mauve: light pink to gray-pink-ish. There's more variation between the mauve dishes than in any other color
Green: More of a chartreuse, bordering yellow and green
Yellow: Almost a dull amber or sand
Gray: Kind of a brownish-gray, the sort of gray you get when you mix purple and yellow
Blue: Sky blue with a hint of green (not featured in cover photo, oops!)
Order of colors in second photo, clockwise from top left: green, mauve, gray, yellow, white, flamingo.
If you would like to schedule a video tour of the ceramics, please email info@fulamingo.com and let us know a good day/time to arrange a video chat with you.
